주말에 본 재밌는 영화, 케이팝 데몬헌터스
이제 곧 다가올 아이들의 방학. 방학기간에 아이와 함께 볼 만한 흥미롭고 활기찬 영화를 찾고 있다면, 케이팝 데몬 헌터스(K-pop: Demon Hunters)는 해답이 되어줄 것 같다.
이 영화는 한국의 세계적인 K-POP 스타인 헌트릭스 멤버들을 주인공으로 삼아, 귀마가 이끄는 악령들과 맞서 싸우는 액션 판타지로, 온 가족이 함께 즐길 수 있는 영화였다.
K POP으로 이런 스토리를?
케이팝이 전세계적으로 사랑받는다는 걸 확실하게 검증해준 게 이 영화가 아닐까?
사실 소재 자체가 뻔해보여서 그다지 기대를 안했다.
아이들이랑 주말에 볼 영화로 괜찮을 것 같아서 시청했는데, 아이들보다 내가 더 재밌게 봤던 것 같다.
차트를 석권하는 영화 속 노래들

도입부에 등장하는 음악부터 사자보이즈를 무찌르기 위해 만든 테이큰까지 전부 좋았다.
개인적으로 가장 마음에 들었던 노래는 'Golden'이었는데, 다른 사람들도 마찬가지였나보다. 차트에서 가장 상위권에 진입한 곡이 골든이라고 한다.
당장 아이돌로 활동해도 괜찮을 듯한 영화 속 노래와 퍼포먼스는 보는 사람들을 빠져들게 하는 매력이 있었다.
한국에서 청소년기를 보낸 사람들이 좋아한 아이돌이 없기는 어렵다. 아이돌의 태동기에 청소년기를 보낸 내게도 두근거렸던 그 시절을 떠올릴 수 있게 해주는 장면이 많았다. 특히 영화 속에 등장하는 사자보이즈는 우리나라 아이돌들의 매력을 하나씩 잘 구현해냈다.
아픈 상처를 가진 진우 캐릭터가 아마도 가장 많이 사랑을 받지 않을까? 사자 보이즈의 멤버들은 영화에서 그렇게 많은 시간 등장하지 않았지만 소다팝과 같은 노래에 찰떡같이 어울리는 춤 덕에 사람들에게 강한 인상을 남길 수 있을 것 같다.
한국의 매력적인 문화가 다양하게 소개된 영화
이 영화는 미국에서 미국자본으로 만들어졌지만 한국에서 만든 게 아닐까 싶을 정도로 한국의 매력을 드러내는 장면이 많았다. 시청자들이 영화 속 장면 곳곳에서 한국스러움을 찾아내는 게 이 영화를 보는 사람들의 챌린지가 된 것 같다.
헌트릭스 멤버들이 전용비행기에서 컵라면과 김밥을 먹는다던가, 기운 없을 때 뚝배기에 담긴 탕을 먹는 장면은 한국인의 정서가 가득 들어간 장면이어서 나 또한 보면서 반가웠다.
영화 속 가장 마음에 든 건 진우와 이 영화의 주인공인 루미 사이를 오가는 전령인 호랑이와 까치였다.
사람들을 해치는 악령이 데리고 다닌다기에는 지나치게 귀여워서 집에도 소장하고 싶은 기분이 든달까? 한국인에게 까치와 호랑이그림(호작도)은 친근하기 때문에 이게 어떤 의미인지 바로 이해할 수 있는데, 외국인들에게도 까치호랑이의 의미가 바로 이해될까 싶었다. 언제부터 까치가 한국 사람들에게 '반가운 손님'의 의미가 되었는지는 모르겠지만 까치가 울면 손님이 찾아온다는 말을 어릴때부터 들어왔다. 그래서 까치는 반가운 소식, 좋은 소식의 의미를 담고 호랑이는 소중한 것을 지키는 의미를 담고 있어서 호랑이와 까치가 함께 그려진 그림에는 사람들의 두가지 바람을 함께 담고 있다고 볼 수 있다.
사자보이즈 VS 헌트릭스
두 그룹은 모두 아이돌 걸그룹과 보이그룹의 매력을 극대화해서 지니고 있다.
사랑하고 싶은 매력이 넘치는 두 그룹 중 하나를 어떻게 선택할 수가 있을까? 그럼에도 불구하고 어느쪽에 더 마음에 들었냐고 묻는다면 나는 아무래도 사자보이즈? 복근은 참을 수가 없지!
아이들과 나눌 이야기가 정말 많았던 영화.
아이들과 영화를 볼때 좋은 점은 뭘까?
영화를 함께 보는 것만으로도 좋지만 같은 걸 보고 서로 나눌 수 있는 이야기가 많아진다는 게 좋다.
시시껄렁한 것부터 삶과 죽음에 대한 이야기까지 나와 아이들은 정말 많은 이야기를 나눌 수 있었다.
내 아이들은 영화 속에 등장한 전투나 무기에 대한 관심이 많았다. 그래서 헌트릭스 멤버들의 무기 중에 가장 마음에 드는 무기가 뭔지 선택해보는 상상을 해봤다. 나는 루미가 휘두르던 사인검을 선택했고, 첫째는 표창을, 막내는 긴 창을 선택했다. 어쩜 셋이서 원하는 게 전부 다 다른지.. 제법 진지하게 무기를 어디에 활용할지도 이야기를 나누면서 주말 내내 우리는 수다를 떨었다.
주말 또는 방학에 아이들과 함께 보기에 딱 좋은 영화였다.

I watched it because I thought it would be okay for a movie to watch on the weekend with my children, but I think I enjoyed it more than the children.

From the music in the introduction to the Taken made to defeat the Lion Boys, everything was good.
Personally, my favorite song was "Golden," and I guess it was the same for others. The song that reached the top of the chart is called "Golden."
The songs and performances in the movie, which seemed to be okay to work as an idol right now, had the charm of attracting viewers.
It is difficult for people who spent their adolescence in Korea to have an idol that they like. There were many scenes that reminded me of the days when I was excited because I spent my adolescence in the early days of idols. In particular, the Lion Boyz in the movie embodied the charms of Korean idols one by one.
Isn't Jinwoo's character with a painful wound probably the most loved? The members of Lion Boys haven't appeared in the movie that long, but I think they can leave a strong impression on people thanks to their dance that goes well with songs like Soda Pop.
A movie that introduces Korea's attractive culture in various ways
Although the film was made with American capital in the United States, there were many scenes that revealed the charm of Korea to the extent that it might have been made in Korea. It seems that the challenge for viewers to find Koreanness in various scenes in the movie has become a challenge for those who watch the film.
The scene where the Huntrix members eat cup noodles and gimbap on a private plane or eat soup in an earthen pot when they are tired was a scene full of Korean emotions, so I was also glad to see it.
My favorite thing in the movie was the tiger and magpie, a messenger between Jinwoo and Rumi, the main character of the movie.
It's so cute to have an evil spirit that hurts people, so I feel like I want to keep it at home? I can understand what magpies and tiger paintings (hojakdo) mean because they are familiar to Koreans, but I wondered if the meaning of magpies was immediately understood by foreigners. I don't know when magpies became "welcome guests" to Koreans, but I've heard since I was young that when magpies cry, customers will come. So, magpies contain the meaning of good news and tigers contain the meaning of protecting what is precious, so it can be said that the paintings of tigers and magpies together contain the two wishes of people.
Lion Boyz vs Hunt-Lix
Both groups maximize the appeal of idol girl groups and boy groups.
How can I choose between two groups that are full of charms I want to love? Nevertheless, if you ask me which one I liked more, I'd say Lion Boyz. I can't stand abs!

What are the good things about watching movies with children?
It's good just to watch a movie together, but it's good to see the same thing and have more stories to share with each other.
From trivial things to stories of life and death, I and the children were able to talk a lot.
My kids had a lot of interest in the combat or the weapons in the movie. So I imagined choosing the most favorite weapon among the Huntrix members. I chose the autograph sword that Rumi wielded, the first for the commendation, and the youngest for the long spear. We chatted throughout the weekend, talking about how all three of us want different... quite seriously about where we're going to use the weapon.
It was a perfect movie to watch with children on weekends or vacations.
